Johannes Czernin, MD

Johannes Czernin is a Board certified Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine physician with over 25 years of clinical experience.

He is a Professor at the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology and Nuclear Medicine and the Department of Medicine at UCLA, Los Angeles (USA). Dr Czernin is also Chief of the Ahmanson Biological Imaging Division and Vice Chairman of the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at UCLA. From 2005 to 2007 Dr Czernin was the President of the Academy of Molecular Imaging (AMI).

Over the past 15 years Dr Czernin and his team at UCLA has strongly supported the recognition of PET in clinical patient management and research applications. In 2001 he has received one of the first combined PET/CT systems worldwide. Since then Dr. Czernin an his team have helped introduce PET/CT as an integral part of state-of-the-art oncology patient management.

Johannes Czernin is author and co-author of over 120 scientific publications, of which the Supplements to the Journal of Nuclear Medicine in 2005 and 2007 on the clinical value of PET/CT have received widespread attention among the community.
